Personal best for Dylan Walsh

For the 10th round of the MXGP series, and the second consecutive race at the Circuito Internazionale Motocross Città di Mantova, riders had luck on their side with favourable weather conditions. JM Honda Racing’s Dylan Walsh produced another good second moto in Italy. This time improving on his round nine race two result with 11th position – his best MXGP race and overall result so far.

The JM Honda Racing pairing of Dylan Walsh and Artem Guryev went to the line 18th and 25th respectively. Despite feeling well on the track Dylan couldn’t capitalise on his flow in qualifying after a crash in practice. After a decent start the talented Kiwi was taken out in the first lap. Although he started to climb the leaderboard again from dead last the #53 JM Honda Racing also took a second tumble. Eventually Walsh had to settle for 20th.

Delivering one of his textbook snappy gate reactions Dylan rounded the tricky first left-hander around tenth position. The MXGP rookies circulated as high as ninth but slotted into 11th after 30 minutes plus two laps of racing. Walsh’s teammate Artem Guryev continued his learning curve in the world’s strongest motocross series. With a 23rd in the opening moto Artem scored his personal best for the season while claiming 24th after a second corner pile-up in the final race.    Both riders are looking forward to continue the upward trend and chase their personal goals on Sunday when MXGP will contest its last Mantova race.

Dylan Walsh: “I’m quite happy with my day. Unfortunately I couldn’t put in the time I was capable off in qualifying after I had quite a big get-off in free practice. The first moto wasn’t a good one with the two crashes I had. In the final race I (finally) managed to ride like I know I’m able to. I fought till the end and got my personal best result which is really good for the team and myself!”

Artem Guryev: “Not the best starts today and I was a bit unlucky in the second moto but that’s part of racing. I finished before Covington twice however the second moto particularly challenging because I had to come back from last and couldn’t get into a good rhythm. Step by step my condition is improving so that’s positive although I feel the lack of bike time in my preparation. We’ll keep on fighting to get that top-20 on Sunday. A big thank you for everyone who believes in me and supports me."
